“As a new grad who moved across the country to pursue this career and learn new treatment techniques, BC Cancer was a great place to start my career…I love being in the mountains! There are incredible lakes, hikes, and four definable seasons. Kelowna is definitely great for those with an outdoor lifestyle.”
Tierannai Lewis, Radiation Therapist, BC Cancer - Kelowna
B.C.’s biggest city has a vibrant urban core and outlying areas include welcoming neighbourhoods that reflect the multiculturalism of the city. Walk, jog or cycle around Vancouver’s scenic area, the Stanley Park Seawall and explore lively neighbourhoods near the downtown core, including Coal Harbour, Olympic Village, West End, Gastown, Yaletown, and Chinatown.
The fastest-growing city in B.C., Surrey is connected to Vancouver by rapid transit; incredible parklands, post-secondary institutions, and community sports and recreation facilities. Known as the “City of Parks,” Surrey’s outdoor areas include Holland Park (home to outdoor music festivals), Bear Creek Park (sports fields, pools and water parks) and Tynehead Regional Park with 250+ hectares of trails.
Kelowna is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in Canada, offering a waterfront community with immediate access to lakes and mountains in a small-city environment. Located in B.C.’s Interior Region, Kelowna has unbeatable summer and winter outdoor leisure activities including downhill and cross-country skiing, golf, fishing, and more.
Enjoy a smaller-city lifestyle in B.C.’s “Gateway to the North” with easy access to a more rural setting with endless lakes, rivers, trails, and active outdoor living. Here, you’ll find incredible opportunities for outdoor recreation through each distinct season of the year. With 1,600 lakes and rivers within an hour's drive and a network of parks and trails, there are endless opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, fishing, golfing, outdoor ice skating, skiing, and more.
Known as the "City in the Country," Abbotsford is the largest city in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley region, and an hour’s drive east of Vancouver. With a geographic location close to both the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade mountain range, this city blends the best of big-city and farming communities, with a thriving urban core, post-secondary education and top-notch health care, all surrounded by active farms and protected green space.
Located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, this B.C. city has the most moderate climate; features historical sites, incredible scenery, and an eclectic downtown core. Explore Downtown Victoria, a blend of historical buildings and structures, shops and eateries, and entertainment venues and find access to water sports and boating, whale watching, sandy beaches, coastline trails, wineries, and award winning golf courses.
